It is with a sort of wacky and lucid urgency that Sergio B Zenteno lives life, creates and makes his performances and his striking, incisive videos. 07, his new clip is no exception. 07 takes one on a journey starting with the 06-07 new years's festivities, through a sequence of colorful cinema verite events and emerging-culture happenings, ultimately giving the viewer a pleasant, poetic and inventive take on current living. Whether it's a revisitation of the pacifist, agitprop rallie or a fresh vista into the time-honored phenomena of artistic introspection and experimentation, Zenteno's work in general and 07 in particular, posits not only issues of style and aesthetics but also matters of essence and ideas, albeit subliminally and effortlessly non-didactic in its impact. His aim seems to be to marry substance and entertainment, intellectual titillation with child-like absurda.
